Euler Characteristic

A thing that an older friend of mine taught to me...

V+F-E=2
Where
  V=#of vertices or intersections
  F=#of faces or closed areas
  E=#of edges or spaces between two intersections
This is common with any drawing. ANY, as long as the entire drawing is composed of a single line, or multiple touching lines.
For example, with a 2-D shape:
And you'll find this true with ANY scribble. Can you prove me wrong? Post in the comments (I'm waiting for you, Matthew!)

As for a 3-D shape:
It comes out the same: x = 2. Trust me, It's the same with any and every object.
